Building on the success of the Samsung Galaxy S8, the South Korean tech giant hopes its latest flagship, the aptly titled Galaxy S9 (hands on review here), will take over top spot in the Android smartphone world once more. On this page, we’ve sifted through everything the Australian providers have to offer and brought you the best plans and pricing on both the 64GB and 256GB versions of the Samsung Galaxy S9.
If you’re after the slightly larger brethren of the S9, you should check out our page for the best Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus plans and pricing, or if you’re still not satisfied with the size of that Samsung, check out our Galaxy Note 8 plans page.
To make sure there’s something for everything, we’ll keep a look out for the best overall value plan, as well as the best budget option, the optimum plan for those seeking out massive amounts of data, and the most impressive choice from each of the major carriers.
For now, the Samsung Galaxy S9 is only available for pre-order, but we’ve still gathered up the best offers below so you can get in early on the latest Android powerhouse. As was the case with the Note 8, pre-orders through most carriers will also receive a free Samsung Fast Charge Wireless Pad valued at $119.
The best Galaxy S9 pre-order plans
We’re yet to hear the full extent of the plans offered big players Optus and Telstra, but we’ve already got the scoop on some of the finest offerings from Virgin, Vodafone and Woolworths Mobile. All pre-order plans will be going live from 27 February, so stay tuned for an impending full comparison.
Samsung Galaxy S9 64GB | 5GB data | 200 international SMS | $67.45 pm
The best budget offering we’ve seen comes from Woolworths Mobile, who are offering a $300 discount on the cost of the handset (spread over the 24 month contract) if you get in early and pre-order. The Small plan will net you 5GB of data to use along with 200 international texts, and will give you access to the Telstra network. Total cost over 24 months is $1,618.80
Samsung Galaxy S9 64GB | 9GB data with rollover | $300 of international calls & texts | $83 pm
If you sign up before March 26, Virgin Mobile is offering a 10% discount on all their plans. This means you can grab the 64GB Samsung Galaxy S9 with 9GB of data and 300 minutes of international calls and texts for only $83 a month. Total cost over 24 months is $1,992
Samsung Galaxy S9 256GB | 30GB data | $500 of international calls & texts | $105 pm
If you’re looking to get your hands on the bigger storage Galaxy S9, you’re likely gonna want some extra data allowance to help you fill it up. Virgin Mobile’s 10% off (until 26 March) applies to this handset and its plans as well, so score a full 30GB of data for only $105 a month. Total cost over 24 months is $2,520
Samsung Galaxy S9 256GB | 150GB data | $152.50 pm
Vodafone is offering extra data on some of its Samsung Galaxy S9 pre-order plans (but only for a limited time) and none of them make better use than the $100 Red plan, which bumps the data cap up from 50GB to 150GB! There isn’t much else in the way of extras, but after the first month, you can leave the plan at any time, only having to pay the remaining value of the handset itself. Total cost over 24 months is $3,660
