Ancient snake brainscan

SA Museum and Flinders University researchers compared brain scans of two ancient snakes (and 81 reptiles alive today) to see how they might have lived, above or below ground. High-resolution computer tomography (CT scan) inside the inner ears of the 23 million-year-old Yurlunggur from northern Australia, and the much younger Wonambi, from southern Australia, extinct 50,000 years ago. Concluded Yurlunggur burrowed underground, while Wonambi was more of a generalist and lived almost anywhere. Supplied video. PEDDIE
